PrintDecra Stratos Tiles Best, Buy at Super VaIu
Super Valu, part of Musgrave Super VaIu Centra, the retail Franchise of Musgrave Group. has chosen a lightweight roof it’s new 4,800 sq ft Emmet McConville store in Monasterevin, Co Kildare.
Initially the company favoured natural slate, but after further consideration chose the Stratos tile from Decra Roof Systems Ltd. Coverage is up to seven times faster than conventional tiles at only a fraction of the weight, making it ideal for fast-track installation and allowing the thickness of the steel building frame to be reduced by up to 35%.
The Stratos tile is manufactured as a complete steel panel of tiles rather than individual tiles. These coated, galvanised panels are light (about one-seventh the weight of concrete tiles) and need fewer fixings than traditional tiles, making them ideal for fast track installations covering at 2.54 tiles per square metre against 19,0 per square metre for natural slate tiles. They are dry-fixed throughout and require virtually no maintenance.
A down turned front edge and an upturned rear edge ensure a strong, overlapping and interlocking roof covering, minimising the risk of any public liability injury and virtually ruling out the possibility of vandalism or forced entry.
Decra Stratos Tiles have an attractive riven surface, which gives them a finish similar in appearance to a slate roof. They are available in charcoal grey and pepperstone and do not fade or deteriorate with UV light. Architects Kieran Lally specified charcoal grey as planning requirements demanded that the roof had to blend in with surrounding residential properties.
