Surestart Nursery School Lincoln
Surestart was certain about Decra’s complete roofing package
The whole roofing and rainwater systems at a new, government sponsored, Surestart nursery school in Lincoln were supplied by Decra Roof Systems Ltd.
Around 1,000 square metres of Decra’s Stratos tiles in charcoal grey were used for the T-shaped roof with Dutch gable detailing.
Lincolnshire County Council wanted to use an alternative to concrete tiles, as the single-storey building could be susceptible to vandalism. Having specified Decra many times in the past, the County Council were very aware of Decra’s vandal resistant properties and that the whole roof would be guaranteed weather secure for 30 years. Also that Stratos tiles would emulate the slate appearance they wanted to achieve.
Additionally, Decra supplied its own roof ventilation systems, underlay and breather membranes, as well as the Icopal rainwater system in black.
Like Decra’s tiles, the Icopal rainwater system is also based on a galvanised steel core, but the coating is in high performance Plastisol. Therefore, this system is lighter and easier to handle than cast iron or aluminium, stronger and more durable than plastic.
Ventilation used was mainly at eaves and ridge, but also included inline, soil/mechanical extraction tile vents.
