1. Set out battens at appropriate gauge up to point where change in roof pitch occurs.
2. Set out battens at pitch change using front top edge of battens as the datum point rather than the underlying rafter.
3. Install next tile batten at appropriate standard gauge for tile from the datum point at the front top edge of batten of the lower batten to front top edge of battens of the next batten (see diagram to right).
4. Tile in standard manner.
